Elaine Cromie is a visual journalist and documentary photographer based in Detroit and Tijuana, Mexico. She is a founding member of the journalist collective Transborder Media and is producing her first documentary about deported U.S. veterans.  Elaine has been photographing and documenting daily life around the U.S.-Mexico border for the past three years. Her work focuses on social issues affecting communities and identities.

She worked in Detroit as a photographer with MLive Media Group from July 2014 to July 2015. She was part of the 2013 New York Times Student Journalism Institute. More recently Elaine was awarded second place at the Gender and Justice competition held by the Supreme Court of Mexico, United Nations Women, United Nations Human Rights of Mexico and several other organizations in November 2014 for her work on deported U.S. veterans.

Elaine is available for assignments in the U.S., Mexico and around the world.
